We reached the Vesle at several points east of Fismes The enemy rearguards resisted strongly, notably between Muizon and Champigny (near Rheims). Our light elements nevertheless gaineid a footing at several points on the north bank and Fismes la ours and we have captured Bazoches. We gained ground north-wc3t of 'Rheims a$ far as the village of La Neuvillette which the enemy 19 defending vigorously. The Germans on the left Bank of the Avre, between Castel and ilesnil-St.-Georges were compelled to abandon part or' their positions which were un-taiaM-o as the result of our advance on July 23.
