TO& FISK JUBILEE,: SEJGEBfIi-. The . name '\Fisk" has.. been, ;aasoci» ated, with a .talented Conspanyw of singers for .no many yearsihat-.ji- has .become a household word .and. <wy ,i«w: people in Australia, and Sew ..Zealand have not heard them at- one* 'time' or another. . Although in the present company there are only two,'of the original left, the standard lias not' new members preying themselves worthy successors. The popularity"of. the.Fisk Jubilee Singers has been well maintained and to-day their concerts- are patronised just as liberally as of y; re. The reason for this, of course, is the presentation of high class programmes. The company is evenly balanced and apart from individual items, the concerted work is exceptionally good. Coon songs and popular airs find a prominent place in the programme and real talent is displayed in the mo"e serious items. The company will make their appearance at the Empire Theatre on Wednesday and Thursday next. The p)ox' plan for the season is now open at Collier's. The prices of admission are 4s, 33 2s and Is (plus tas. l ). THE EMPIRE. LAST NIGHT OF ETHEL CLAYTON IN "WHIMS OF SOCIETY." '•Whims of Society" is scarcely an appropriate title for the -hcadliner at the Empire to-night, but nevertheless this feature, which is produced by the World Film Company, is good. It seems to be built up on the plan of melodrama, and it makes an acceptable story, what with the work of its dainty star, Miss Ethel Clayton, its neat settings, and the phases of both high and low life that are brought before the audiences. "Whims of Society" tells of one Nora Carey, a factory hand who becomes intimate with the scion of a wealthy house. He fights off a workman who wants her, and sends her sister to college while he supports Nora herself. He makes a tangle of other people's prospects of marriage, and is disinherited. "Whims of Society" is well supported. This programme, which shows for the last time to-night, also includes a film of the British Navy on its war footing entitled "The King's Visit to the Grand Fleet." EVERYBODY'S. GAIL KANE IN "SOULS IN PAWN." There is a brilliant new programme showing at Everybody's to-night and tomorrow headed by the beautiful Gail Kane in a Mutual de luxe drama "Souls in Pawn," the story of a beautiful woman who sets out to avenge the death of her husband just when the air is full of vague forebodings of evil, and great preparations for war. She be-' conies mixed in many strange adventures and some highly dramatic situations. The programme also stars pretty Vivian Rich in the powerful film drama "The Dancer," and a "Vogue" star comedy "The Painted Pedigree." It is a most entertaining selection and well diversified.
