FOOTBALL.

Stratford "A" team added another win their record by defeating the Clifton team by 9 points to nil, the gam* being played at Stratford on Thursday. Two visitors had the wind at their back and played downhill for the first spell, but failed to score, although the stiff breeze compelled the home fifteen to force down several times. On changing ends it was soon apparent that Stratford had the better combination, and before the referee (C. Jackson) sounded cease play McCullougli, Butcher and Bonnor had scored tries, the attempts at converting in each instance failing. Auckland Grammar School are due to visit New Plymouth on August 24, when they meet the High School "A" team. Efforts are also being made to get the Nelson College to send a fifteen along, and if this is managed a triangular contest will be held. The Aucklandera are a tough proposition, and a good "gate" I should result l'rom the contest.
