PATRIOTIC WORK.

The Management Committee of the Soldiers' Club wish to thank Messrs Jenkins, Cross, Lawrence and Hawker for their gratuitous labor in renovating and re-doing the walls of the Soldiers' Club. It is just two rears since the club w"as opened, and there was great need of the white wash brush. The walls are now fresh and clean, and t'he Committee is very grateful for the voluntary help given. Messrs Boon Bros, and West Bros, also kindly lent and donated material.

Will everyone help the Mayoress to send a Mascot in the Xmas parcels, to the men on active service, by bringing a golliwog or any tiny toy to the Patriotic Rooms, St. Aubyn street? Each gift should have a card attached bearing Xmas Greetings and the donor's name. Gift cases for our nurses on active service will be packed during August by the Mayoress' Patriotic Committee. Donations and gifts to help fill these will be very welcome, and may be left at t'lie (Patriotic Depot, St. Aubyn street. In acknowledging Xmas. Gifts sent last year, Taranaki was mentioned as being alone in remembering our lighting sisters.

Miss Andrews hag forwarded to the Mayoress a cheque for £441 Is Gd, being proceeds from the Cafe Chantant, held? recently. The New Plymouth \Vomen's Patriotic Committee wish to express their sincere thanks to the New Plymouth High School Old fiirls' Association for their voluntary 'help in assisting the Committee with funds to carry on their work for the soldiers. Among the generous helpers mention must be made of the shop assistants and office girls, who stocked and ran their stalls most successfully, thereby doing their "bit" towards making the Cafe Chantant a distinct success. There are still a few articles to be claimed from the Cafe Chantant. These may be had at the Patriotic Rooms, SC. Aubyn street. If a smp.ll white wedgewood plate was taken in mistake, the owner would be pleased to find it again. Please ring No. 111).
