CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Aug. I. The Harbor Boards Conference passed fti resolution deploring the unsympathetic attitude of the Railway Department towards harbor boards, which was causing a loss of national efliciency, owing to the lack of co-ordination between the eea and land transport services. The conference requested the Government to readjust the policy of the Railway Department. A resolution was also passed that further provision be mado in the Harbors Act for the protection of foreshores from pollution by drainage or the depositing of refuse. The executive of the association was appointed to confer with the Marine Department in revising the harbor regulations dealing with explosives, inflammable oils and dangerous goods. A temit was carried ttat harbor boards be empowered to acquire water catchment areas or sink wells, with the rights of laying mains and the reticulation of pipes connecting the catchment areas with the wharves.
