BOOTMAKERS' DISPUTE By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunodin, July 28. The Bootmakers' Union hold a stopwork meeting to-dtay io discuss a proposal made by the manufacturers at the Auckland conference. A resolution was passed protesting against- the action of the employers in introducing what the Union considers to be industrial conscription, inasmuch a s t.liey debar an employee irom obtaining employment in another factory without first receiving permission, and pledging themselves to support the representatives and any nation they take to abolish the practice. The •„ meeting also resolved to endorse the action of the representatives in refusing the wages and conditions offered. It was also decided to request the Federal Council to consider the advisability of cancelling registration under the Arbitration Act.
