THE DAILWAY DEPARTMENT.
To the Editor. Sir, —I think it about time that people who have to travel on the mail train between New Plymouth and Wellington should have a little more consideration shown them by the Railway Department. Travelling to Wellington on Monday last (the day of the snowstorm) tliero were no foot-warmers provided or other .means of warming the frozen passengers. At every station whero the train stopped more people got in with a cargo of snow on their garments, until the carriage became Arctic. To make it worse, it was almost impossible to get a eup of tea. at any .of the counter refreshment rooms. A few gentlemen, by pushing and straggling, managed to get a eup, but it was an impossible feat for a lady. Another thing that should be seen to is the refusal of the counter attendants to allow one to take tea into the carriages. There were many mothers with little children almost perishing with cold who would have been much more comfortable with a warm drink.—l am, etc., A. MILLS.
