EFFICIENCY TRUSTEES.

WEEKLY Wii'TIXG. The. Xew Plymouth trustees of the Efficiency Board met yesterday, there being present: Messrs T. Furlong (chairman), E. Whittle, and F. J. Mill (secretary). Correspondence was received from tlic Commissioner in Wellington aiid also from tihe Pensions Department, relative to cases submitted by the local board, and all were dealt with expeditiously and satisfactorily to the applicants. Four Second Dvision reservists called on the trustees in reference to financial assistance. They were supplied with the necessary forms and instructed as to the method of procedureA reservist who recently applied through the board for extended leave in order to allow Mm time to complete his business, was informed that the camp adjutant had granted an additional eight dys. A prominent business man, who had received an urgent business call to Australia, asked if the board could procure for his son, who was capable of managing liis business, a month's leave of absence. As the .business was an essential one, he thought the request should he granted in the present instance". —The matter was referred to the Director of Recruiting. A reservis-t on special leave in connection with the winding up of his business, informed the board that the time allowed him was insuffiej|nt for him to complete his affaire, and that ha required an additional seven days. Application was made by wire, and a reply received that the leave was granted. A returned soldier approached the board in connection with securing a small dairy farm. A lady also called on a similar quest ot behalf of her son, who is shortly returning to New Zealand. Both applications were referred to the Crown Lands Commissioner. A reservist who had property on the Main Trunk line supplied particulars of receipts and expenditure in connection with the same, and asked that thev be forwarded to the Pensions P.oard at Wellington, who had asked fcr the information.
