H.. L, JURY. A mocjius of creditors in tJie- estate of 11. L.. Jury- was held at. Uie : oJlice- of' the D.0.A., ilr.. J. S, S. Medley, on i'riday afternoon. Bankrupt, in his statement, showed total- liabilities; amountim; to £204 18s 4d, due to. unsecured creditors, and.there were no assets.. In his written statement, bankrupt said he took over a JSiddeley-Beasy motor-car from his father in December, 1!)13, his father holding a bill of sale over it. He ran it for hire in his own interests until about twelve months ago, when the car caught fire, and was practically destroyed. The insurance on the car about covered what he owed his father on the bill of sale. His father then bought a Dodge car, which he (defendant) ran for hire until January 2, 1918, when he had an accident, and.'lris father took it over. The car was his father's, and in his father's name, although whilst he was using it he was supposed to pay instalments on same, but he only paid part of one instalment. Since February he had been working for his father on wages, driving his motorear for hire. The furniture in his house all belonged to his wife. He had no property or assets of any kind. He was a. maried man with a wife and five children, and it took all ho earned to keep them in food and clothing. At present he could make no offer to his creditors.. . Examined by the D.0.A., hankrupt said the bill of sale ver the SiddeleyDeasy car was for £IOO, and the money paid by the insurance company after the car caught fire and was burnt—£2lo— paid to his father under the bill of sale. He earned about) £lO or £l2 a week with the Dodge car, but did not pay his father any instalments. His debts were incurred before lie ran the Dodge car, and he attributed his bankruptcy to cost of repairs with the first car. He did not drink much.. He went to races hut always took a load of people.. Ho banked w'ith the National Bank, where ho had an overdraft of £SO, which his father paid.
