RECRUITING ARRANGEMENTS.

A BREAK. IN THE MONTHLY SEQUENCE. (From Our Own Correspondent.) 1 Wellington, July .19. A further official statement regarding recruiting arrangements""is to be made shortly. It may indicate definitely when the Class D men (three children) will be required for camp, and it is expected to extend the opportunities for volunteering. There seems no doubt that a break in ' the monthly sequence of ballots will be made after the exhaustion of Class C. That is to say, the first ballot in Class D will not take place in the month, following the last call on Class C It is likely, also, that some of the Class C men will receive more than the three months' leave promised them. This will not apply to men already posted to drafts. But tlie mobilisation of the August and September drafts substantially in excess of the strength required for the present reduced reinforcement quota will necessitate some readjustments in the camps. It should be remembered, in any calculation on the subject of recruiting, that the authorities have to allow for something like 10 per cent of wastage in order to ibe on the safe side. Some men drop out from various causes after posting and before mobilisation, and other men are discharged from camp during training.
