FARMER MISSdNG. By Telegraph.—Presß Association. Osborne, July 22. Arthur ißryan, a farmer, of Puha, camo to town on Friday, and stayed with relatives. His clothes have been found near the break-water, but no trace of him has been found. FARMER OampS SUKJIDE. At about midday on Friday word was received by Constable liston, Kaponga, that a farmer residing at Auroa Road, Awatuna, named John M*Kie Stevenson, bad committed suicide- Oil proceeding to the farm, he found Stevenson lying on his, back in a motor-car ehed, with, a bullet wound in his head and a sevenchamber automatic revolver lying by his side. Life was not extinct, and I)r. Buist was immediately sent for, but the man expired shortly after the arrival of the doctor. The revolver was fully loaded, only one cartridge being spent. From the appearance of the wound, deceased must have ischarged the weapon close to his head. Itoeeased had been acting queerly for the past three weeks, but not to the extent that would lead deceased's wife and brother to think that he contemplated taking Ms life. At the inquest held subsequently before Mr. P. W. Allen, J.P., the evidence showed that on the 19th inst. deceased went to work on his farm as usual, and at about 11 ajn. he told his brother that ha was going to the house to get a revolver to ghoot a sick cow. About an hour later deceased's brother was going to his dinner, and, when passing-the earshed, he saw deceased lying in a pool of blood, with a revolver alongside him. A verdict was returned 'that deceased died of a self-inflicted ■revolver shot, whilst in an unsoud state of mind." ACCIDENT AT HAWEKA. An accident occurred at Hawera on Sunday afternoon, which fortunately was not attended with serious consequences. A motor-cycle, ridden by Mr. John Bams, collided with a motor-oar at the corner of High and Argyle streets.
