MILKING SHORTHORNS. • At Stony Elver, on Thursday next, Mr. Newton King 19 selling a very fine line of pedigree, registered and grade Shorthorn cattle. Leaflets giving full particulars are now In circulation, and can be obtained from any of the auctioneer's offices. Amongst the cattle described will be noticed a 2-year heifer, Duchess, which Mr. Thomas, bred from a cow Daisy, purchased at Mrs. Gordon Salway's dispersal sale. Daisy was one of the registered cows sold by Mr. Salway. Boss Frince of, Darbalara, the sire of Duchess, was Imported to New Zealand by Mr. Salway from the Darbalara Estate, New South Wales. His sire. Emblem of Darbalara, was champion milking Shorthorn boll at the Sydney Royal Show for the years 1910, 1911, 1912, 1913, 1911 and 1915, and also obtained special prizes for bull and progeny, milking Shorthorn class. Rose of Balara, the dam of Rose Frince, Is also the dam of Banker 11, Frince of Raleigh, David Harum and Souvenir, all well-known prizewinners at the Sydney Royal- and other leading Australian shows, and have been successful as sires of high-class winners both in the show ring and official testing. The bull Lee-Metford 7th, although stated in the leaflet as not for sale, will bo offered without reserve, and It Is interesting to note his breeding, He was bred by the trustees of the Moore Hunter Estate, Hawera, and is by the well-known bull Te Aute Knight Ist, and out of Nancy Lee 30th. The other sire (Pilot) mentioned by Mr. Thomas in the leaflet was bred by Messrs R. Turnbull and Sons, being by their fine bull Edward's DalryV man, out of Profit 2nd. This bull (Pilot) unfortunately Injured himself, and Is not at present saleable, so that Mr. Thomas la not ottering him. The vendor has all dates of service, and these, with particulars as to which bull they are In calf to, will be supplied at the time of sale. As will be noticed by tho advertisement, cars will run from Stratford, Kaponga and Manala on the morning of sale. Intending buyers are requested to book seats at the auctioneer's offices. For the convenience, of buyers, the sale will be held In the Stony River saleyord3, and Mr. Thomas will arrange to truck any cattle at the Moturoa station fret of charge.
