PALESTINE.
TURKS AND GERMANS. London, July 10. Telegraphing from Jericho on Monday Mr. Massev reports that there are ru-inor.-i of friction between the Turkish and German troops, and, if true, the result, of the action in the Jordan valley vesterdav are sure to widen the breach. Three* German battalions attacked, their object being to seize our water supply. After getting round a portion of the defences they were held up and forced to surrender. The Germans expected two Turkish divisions to assist, but thev made no attempt to do so. The Germans suffered an overwhelming defeat and the Turks were completely disillusioned. Their casualties were very heavy and over 500 were taken prisoners.—Aus. N.Z. Cable Assoc.
