LOAN AXD MERCANTILE REPORT. The X.Z, Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Stratford Branch, reports as follows: — On Tuesday the 9th inst., we held our usual fortnightly sale in onr Stratford yards. The yards were filled to the brim with sheep, store and dairy cattle, also advertised stock on account Colin McLaren, Esq. Buyers were in attendance from all parts of the district, competition was satisfactory and nearly everything sold at the hammer or immediately afterwards. Lambs 17s lid and 18s Od, store cows £5 ss, £5 10s, £0 14s £0 18s Od up to £7 Us; empty heifers £5 3s; 2-year steers £0 10s; weaner steers £3 us nnd £4; weaner heifers 31s Od up to £3 Is, £3 3s Od, £3 15s and £3 IDs Od; mixed weaners 33s to £2 ss; bulls £5 5s up to £7 15s; in-ealf heifers £7 7s Od up to £11; dairy cows £7 12s Od, £lO and £lO 15s. We also sold without reserve Mr. Colin McLaren's store stocK. Lambs 13s 7d and 14s; breeding ewes 17s 8d and 18s; in-calf heifers, in lines, £7 10s, £B. £8 f>s and £8 14s. Next Stratford sale, July 23rd, 1018, at 1 p.m.

On Friday the 12th inst., we held our usual monthly sale in our To Wera vards. Owing to the continued wet weather the yarding was small. We made sales as'follows: Dairy cows £l3 5s- 20-month steers £5 8s; in-calf heifers £8 12s and £0 10s. Next salton August oth at 1 p.m. On Saturday the 13th inst., we held a clearing sale on account of Jas. Donaldson Esq., of Hniroa, in our Stratford yards. The dairy herd averaged £l3 ISs Od. This herd showed nice quality, and were well competed for, except about ten backward cows and September calves. Dairy cows, "> teaters, £7 10s, £8 5s and £9 10s; cow dose up £l4 10s to £lB 10s; backward cows £0 to £l2 10s; in-calf heifers, small, £7 to £8 10s: 3-year Jersey bull £l2 10s; weaner bulls 20s and 52s Od. Private Sales.—Enquiry still holds for empty heifers, dairy stock and yearlings, which are easily placed. Yearling heifers £3 12s Gd; in-calf heifers £7 to £S 10s; rising 2-year empty heifers, dairy sorts, £5 15s to £6; dairy herds £l3 13s and £l4 10s; ewe Southdown hoggets 31s Gd.
