ON THE SEA.
JVORK OF ALLIED NAVIES, Paris, July IS. If. Georges Leygnes, Minister of Marine, in an interview on the occasion of France's Day, presented the first record of the navy's service. The French navy was proud to co-operate with the powerful British fleet, which was assuring to the Entento the mastery- of the seas which was essential to victory. British squadrons had imprisoned the German fleet in the North Sea, and French warships had imprisoned the Austrian fleet a»d barred the Otranto Channel, and also were mounting guard in the eastern Mediterranean. The Italian fleet was watching the Adriatic, and the American and Japanese naval forces were co-operating in the general operations. The Allied shores had been safeguarded from enemy abuse for four years.—Aus. N.Z. Cable Assoc.
