The inside top rail of one of the most formidable fences on i the course was almost sawn through. * In the first round all the competitors,* cleared. In the second round Booligal and Doiran struck the rail and it fell away. There was another .sensation at Townsville, where the mare Etal, the owner Cormack, and the jockey Thompson- were disqualified for life. The Btewsrds foutod-Etal's tongue tied with tape, after losing the race, wherein it -• started favorite. . In the weights for the Australian Hurdles the top is Jack Rice with 11.1, Tararu Jack 10.1, Pro Tem 9.0. In the Steeple the top is Jack Rice' with 12.9, Tararu Jack 11.3. Tararu Jack has been scratched Joi both races.
