ENEMY'S CONVERGING ATTACK I CRUSHED BY ITALIAN BAYONETS. Received July 15, 11.40 p.m. London, July 15. Mr. Ward Price states that an attempt at a converging attack on the Italian positions at Monte Corrone was the first sign of the revived Austrian enterprise, but it ended in failure. The Italians did not wait for the development of the onslaught, but charged with fixed bayonets, and drove back the enemy, scattering them in disorder.—Times Service. CADORNA'S FALL. OUTCOME OF OCTOBER DEBACLE, Rome, July 14. A decree has been published placing General Cadorna on the retired list, without rank or pay; also General Porro, ex-chief of Staff; and General Capello, ex-Commander of the 2nd Army—Ans. N.Z. Cable Assoc, and Reuter. General Cadorna's dismissal followed a searching inquiry into the debacle of last October, when the Germans broke through at Caporetto, for which Generals Cadorna, Porro, and Capello were held responsible. Cadorna's appointment to the Versailles Council has been withdrawn. It is understood that the inquiry decided that Cadorna did not put forth his utmost staunchness against the Austrians.
