ELTHAM.
(From Our O'jfi Correspondent.) ..! Eltbam, July 15. At the County i Council meeting on Saturday, the chairman reported that he, Cr. Campbell, and the engineer had visited the Mangnwhoro stream, in connection with a request "from the Eltbam Drainage Board that the stream should be cleared. He said "that it was going to bt> a mighty big job, the waterway in some places only having a fall of 3in, and was littered with timber' - Cr. Campbell also expressed the opinion that the work could not be undertaken until the summer, as the land in the vicinity was so sodden that nothing could be done just now. Rates as follow were struck in the several ridings:—Eltbam, 2>/ 4 d; South, Kaponga, l'/ 4 d and Id; Mangatoki, Hd and li-Sd; Omoana, -2 1 /.d and Vsd. The annual iball of the Eltham branch of the Farmers' Co-operative Society will be hold in the Town Hall on Wedneseday, 24th inst. Mr. Judd, manager, reports a steady sale of tickets. Particulars will be advertised in these columns shortly;
