DEALING WITH ALIENS. fHE BILL EXPLAINED. Received July 14, 5.5 pjn. London, July 12. In the House of Commons, Sir George >ce (Home Secretary), moving the second reading of the British Nationality and. Status of Aliens Bill, said that all the self-governing Dominions and India, excepting Australia, approved the draft, but Australia indicated thtt she did not dissent. The main purpose .of the Bill was to giv* wider powers to revoke naturalisation certificates. The Bill did not deal «ftth many difficult questions in connection with the law of nationality, but hj( hoped the policy of making nationality .laws would not be abandoned. The Government proposed to refer the ques tion to an advisory committee of export*. The Bill empowered the Home Secretary to revokt naturalisation certificates «htre fraudulently obtained; also to revoke certificates of disloyal persons, Criminals, notorious bad characters, and ftrsons woo had lived abroad for seven years.
