INQUIRY INTO LOSS OF WIMMERA. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, July 13. A public inquiry into the loss of the Wimmera is to be held at Auckland. IMPERIAL PURCHASE OF WOOL Gisbqrne, July 13. The executive of the Farmres' Union after discussing the wool purchase echeme, carried a resolution by 8 to 4 on similar lines to tfaat passed, by the wool-growerß last Saturday. The resolution expressed the opinion that the Imperial Government should only commandeer wool for the period of the war. but, in order to make the wool contract co-terminous with the meat contract, the commandeering should continue for three months after the war, upon the existing terms; that the wool-growers,, having satisfied the Imperial requirements for war purposes below the actual market value, are, in the trade interests of the • Dominion, allowed to resume the ordinary marketing and control of wool as soon as possible, subject to the restrictions preventing wool from reaching take enemy. Masterton, July 13. The following resolution was pawed at a meeting of the Masterton A. and P. Association to-day: "That this asaoeiilion recognises the obligation of the farming community of New Zealand to the Imperial Government and Imperial navy for the facilities for marketing wool and other produce during tie war, and is perfectly satisfied with the terms arranged by the New Zealand Government with the Imperial authorities in commandeering the wool for the dotation of the war and for oneafter.
