Hawera, Last Night. The fiftieth anniversary of Turuturu Mokai was celebrated at Hawera to-day. Several veterans and old colonists met in the town, where addresses to school children were given, and a luneheon held in honor of the survivors of the fight and of the old colonists. later, a visit was paid to the site of the engagement, where two of the survivors, George Tuffin and J. G. Beamish, planted a tree. Cosslett Johnstoi), a third survivor, was unable to be present. IMPERIAL PURCHASE OP WOOL. Dannevirke, July 12. Mr. Lysnar addressed a largely-attend-ed meeting of farmers of southern ffawtoe's Bay upon the Imperial wool purchase, setting forth the grounds of nis opposition to the commandeer extending for longer than thre months after the war. He said the shortage oT shipping was not likely to a'ffect the position after the war, because the ships bringing back the troops would be available to lift the wool.
