THE RACING CONFERENCE. Wellington, July 111. The Racing Conference adopted the president's address and endorsed his action in granting permission to the Takapuna and Taumarunui Clubs to give a less sum in stakes than the net amount derived by them from the use of the totalisator during last season, j _ Wellington, Last Night. 1 The Racing Conference passed the fol- : lotfing resolutions: | That every license issued by a district I committee shall be subject to suspension j or cancellation, and entitle the person j therein named as a trainer or jockey to , train or ride as the case may be during t'iie term mentioned in the license. That if no dividend-winning, ticket is : taken on the first horse, the dividend shall be paid on the second horse only. ; if no dividend-winning ticket is taken on | the second horse the dividend shall be paid on the first horse only, i .That a district committee means a j committee consisting of the chairman i and five members of the committee of a i metropolitan club and the office dele- | gates to be elected by totalisator clubs I in a metropolitan district. The chairman i of committee of a metropolitan club | shall be ex officio chairman of the disj trict committee, five to form a quorum, j If it be intended to run a horse in shoes heavier than racing plates the owner or trainer of such horse must report the fact to the steward prior to weighing out. Every club shall during the month of j August of each year forward the secretary of the conference an audited bal-ance-sheet showing receipts and expend!I ture of the club during the previous , year. j A proposal declaring as ineligible for 1 election as delegate to a district comI niittee a paid official of any club was lost, as were motions dealing with the crouch seat and the racing minimum weight from Gst. 71b to 7st. The conference authorised the issue ' of an appeal to racing clubs, asking them to assent to the use of surplus funds for war loans and patriotic funds. |. Sir George Clifford was re-elected president, his service to racing clubs being . . highly eulogised. Members of the dates .committee were re-elected: Mr. A. Mc- | Kellar was re-appointed auditor, and the j Hon. O. Samuel elected trustee.
