LOAN AND MERCANTILE. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd, (Stratford Branch), reports as follows: On Friday, 21st June, we held a clearing sale on account of L. W. Catehpole, Esq., Tarata. There was a representative attendance from surrounding districts. Furniture, sundries and implements made very satisfactory values. Stock made ruling values which in conformity with recent sales are in favor of purchasers. Five-year-old mare £24, wethers 25s Od, ewes mixed ages up to 4 years 21s, dairy cows £l4, store cows £7 10s and £8 10s, 20 month steers £5 Is. On Tuesday, 25th June, we held our usual fortnightly sale in our Stratford yards. We had a good yarding of saleable cattle. Competition was satisfactory, and nearly every line was sold at the hammer. Weaner to yearlings showed a hardening in values. Store cows £6 10s, £6 15s, £7 9s, up to £9 14s for forwards, 20 months emptv heifers £5 Is 6d, £5 2s Cd up to £5 16s, 20 months steers £6 (is up to £7 15s, and up to £8 Us for t year steers, incalf heifers £fi 7s fid up to £9 2s 6d, weaner steers 50s. fills, 71s up to 80s, weaner lieifers 50s, 55a, and 67s fid, mixed weaners 22s up to 51s, empty ewes 19s 3d. cull lambs 10s Bd. On Thursday the 27th June, we held a clearing sale of store stock on account of Colin McLaren, F.aq., Toko. We sold the whole of the Stud flock to various breeders, at satisfactory values. The store cattle and sheep, owing to the extremely wet day were withdrawn, until our following Stratford sale. Stud 2 and 4-tooth. Southdown ewes, 2 guineas, stud C-tooth and 4-yoar Southdown ewes 2 gns„ Stud Southdown rams 10 gns., Stud ram lambs 1} gns., Polled Angus bull 31 gns., store cows £B. On Thursday the 4th inst., we held a clearing sale on account of Ralph Finnerty, Esq., who lias sold out. in our Te Were yards, consisting of store cattle, sheep and implements. Satisfactory values were obtained at present prices. Milk- wagon £l9, gig £ll, pony £2 10s. 9-year old marc £7, gelding £7, 4 and 5 year old owes 15s, lambs, culls 8s 3d up to 18s, weaner steers 565, weaner hcifer.s 50s, empty heifers £5, 20-month steers £6. On Friday the sth inst., we hold our monthly sale in Tarata yards. The advertised;, stock came forward and buyers were in attendance from all parts of the district. Everythiiv -hanged hands at the hammer at satisfactory values, or immediately afterwards, excepting a couple of pens of store sheep, which failed to reach reserves. Lambs 13s 3d, 20s, cull ewes ]os up to 20s 9d, f.m. ewes in lamb 25s 4d, rams 19s, yearling steers (>Bs fid. and 70s, yearling heifers 54s fid. in-calf heifers £7 7s 6d, £8 12s 6d, £8 17s fid and £9 14s, store cows £6 0s 6d, £6 ss, £fl 10s 6d, empty heifers £4 15s to £5 13s fid, dairy cows £ll. Our next sale in these yards will be held on August 2nd. Private sales—Best enquiry is for female sloe!:, empty heifers and weaners being in best demand.
