ON THE SEA.
TORPEDOED NORWEGIANS. TERRIBLE SUFFERINGS. Received July 8, 5.5 p.m. London, July 7. Haakon Oklonscra, a survivor of the Norwegian coal ship Eglinton, was picked up from a raft in the North Sea after horrible sufferings for nine days. The submarine approached without warning, shelled the ship, and fired on the sailors launching a lifeboat. They finally succeeded in making a raft Oft by 4ft. Of nine on the raft eight died. Ohlonson threw himself overboard, after living on sea sodden biscuits and water, and was picked up by a patrol boat.—' Press Assoc. DESTRUCTION OF U-BOATS. Paris, July C. M, Taibin, in a speech, declared that the Allies had destroyed nearly twothirds of the German output of submarines for four years, and were now ■finking them faster than they were being tuilt.—Ans; N.Z,i Cable Assoc.
