RECRUITING FIGURES.

THREEFOLD GREATER THAN LAST YEAR. Received July 6, 7.40 p.m. Simla, July 4. Recruiting figures indicate that the recruits in India for the fourth year of the war are nearly threefold those for the third year. Every province shared in this development. The Punjaub keeps the pride of place, but other provinces made a splendid response. Burma has given invaluable assistance. The 'Native States' contributions grow every year by continually tapping new sources of man. The recruiting organisations have become so powerful that it is confidently believed they are capable of meeting all demanda.—Reuter.
