A Eeuter message reports the death of the Sultan of Turkey. Advice has been received 'that Lieutenant Sidney Burgess has arrived in England. A Washington cable states that Senator Tillman, chairman of the Naval Committee, has died of paralysis. The following Tafanaki names ftppeaf in tho latest hospital report published: —Seriously ill, E. N. Honore (Manaia); improving, R. Jones (Kaimata); removed from seriously ill list, C. Kelly (FJtham). The Clifton County Council yesterday passed a resolution expressing good wishes to Mr. C. B, Stead for a safe and speedy return from active service. The council also decided to continue to do its legal business through Mr, Stead's manager during his absence. The resignation by Mr. R. ML MqKnight of the position of honorary treasurer of the Manawatu Agricultural and Pastoral Association, owing to hia impending departure from the district, was accepted with regret at a meeting of the general committee of the association held at Palmerston North on Wednesday. Mr. J. M. Johnston was elected to the position of treasurer of the association.
