DRIED MILK INDUSTRY.

(From Our Own Correspondent). Wellington, July 1. A great deal of interest is being aroused by the discussion regarding drii'd milk. The dried milk factories are I able at.the present time to pay 3s 6d a , (iinul for butter fat and many dairy i.t ruiers are seeing visions of wealth. Tlie men who are manufacturing dried milk state that there is a practically unlimited demand for the product; that their prices are not excessive and that they will be able to sell dried milk in almost any part of the world after the war. Their energies the present time are devoted to producing dried milk for the Army Council, which has been advised that there is no tetter food for the use of wounded soldiers in the hospitals. Under the spur of the present keen demand and high prices, the establishment of dried milk factories in various districts is being planned. But the Minister for Agriculture warns the producers to proceed carefully. He has been informed that tho present high prices, due to the heavy prices made by the Waff Council, will not be maintained, and that after the war dried milk will settle down in price to the equivalent of butter and cheese. There seems to be no doubt that at the present time prices are inflated by the Imperial Government's demands.
