ENEMY AGENCIES AT WORK. TO STIR UP STRIFE. GENERAL BOTHA'S WARNING. Received July 3, 8.50 p.m. Pretoria, July 2. General Botha has issued a statement calling the attention of the people to the prevailing Btate of tension following the activitiea of various political organisations and other agencies, which have been working for some time with the object of bringing about trouble, in view of the disturbed political and industrial situation. The Government has, he states, good reason for suspecting that enemy agencies are intriguing to stir up strife, not only among the Europeans, but among the natives. The events of the past few days necessitated prompt and effective measures, which, unless taken, would have resulted m grave disturbances and probably serious loss of life. The Government had information pointing to the existence of a movement for the subversion of toe Constitution bv methods of violence.
