(From Our Ow Correspondent.) Eltham, July 23. Farewells to soldiers seem to be tlio thing just now. The Druidi, at their last meeting, farewelled Private Arthur Lee. In prewar dtiys Bro. Loo was a busy man, acting on the School Committee, besides being an officer in the benefit society. He will still be kept busy at the front. In the meantime, lie was farcwclled on behalf of the lodge by PDP. Bro. ■{■!. i'arrotfc, AD. Bro. J Kenny and Secretary M. A, Whiteford, all expressed appreciation of Private Lee's work, and accompanied these good wishes with the gift of a set of ebony military brushes.

Whilst this presentation ß was going on the Hibernians haoi Private Norman Reardon lined up to hear some very flattering remarks made concerning the ability he had displayed in carrying out the secretarial work since the inception of the lodge The evening took the form of a social in the Oddfellows' Hall, and whilst many preferred dancing, not a few took part in the cards, the winners being Miss Colophy and Mr. J. M'Donald, whilst those who found the luck against them were Mis Walsh and Sir ThornhiH. Reverting back to Private Reardon, it should be, mentioned that Mr. E Kilbrida also made a presentation to the soldier.

At Mata, the farmers, with their wives and daughters, rolled up strongly to farewell Mr. and Mra. Burton and their son, who are leaving the district, Mr. Burton eventually going into camp. Mr. E. P.irrott made the presentation—a case of pipes—and Intimated that when Mr. Burton returned from final leave there would be another function. Mrs. Hemingway contributed a song, and Mr E.
