TARANAKI'S STAPLE PRODUCTS.

AT THE DOMINION SHOW. PENE DISPLAY OF CHEESE. There is a fine display of dairy produce at the Dominion Show, which oyena iu Hawera to day. The entries create a record, the increase being very noticeable in cheese, batter showing a slight falling pff. The produce is attractively staged in the dairy produce hall, the pot plants and magnificent trophies setting it off. In cheese, Belvedere (C- E. H. Gallon, maker), which has been very successful at other shows this season, scored very heavily, obtaining four firsts, two challenge cups, two medals, and a gold watch for points' prizes. Dalefield and Kuku Were also successful- Mangatoki was the most successful Taranaki factory, scoring two firsts and a second. Bell Block scored in the pasteurised and Normanby in non-pasteurised. Levin (J. Smellie) and Alasterton (C. Hopkins) again had matters practically all their own way in the butter section, the first-named scoring three firsts, two cups, gold medal, and gold watch, and Masterton scored three seconds. In the' Taranaki Championship, Midhirst (J. N. Bowman) was successful in securing the cup, Omata (E. M'Corauok) being second with half a point less. The judges remarked that the flavor in the majority of butters was of the gilt-edged order, the prize-winners particularly showing exceptional merit in this respect, especially the first and second in order of merit. The make, too, generally speaking, was in most exhibits very fine, reflecting credit on those responsible for the manufacture of the various butters. The only complaint made was that there should be at least twice the number of entries in the butter class, considering the valuable prizes offered. The following is the detailed prize list:—
