H'URFORD ROAD (From Our Own Correspondent.) The weather has been anything but desirable of late, cold showers being of daily occurence. The grass shows good signs of growing, but stock on turnips are looking very rough. Mr. John Greenhill, who lia.s been dairying on this road for the past 20 years, has let his farm to Mr- It Smith. He is shortly moving, on account of ill health, to a smaller place at Omata now occupied by Mr Cowling. Mr. Cowling, I understand, is likely to lease Mr Upper's farm.

Tlie new factory is fast nearing completion. It is a construction that is made to last on appearance, and adds to the appearance of the road. Mr Shrimpton has sold his Omata cheese factory and closed down his branch factory on this road, so the upper settlers w.ll have to make new arrangements for the coming season.

J he locjii ladies havo formed a sewing guild, and Intend holding a social evening in (he schoolroom about the middle of li'jxt week to help raise funds for purchasing material, etc. It is with much regret I have to record the death of Mrs I{. Thompson, of Otaki. oldest daughter of .Air. and Mrs Alf. Smith, of this road. Mr. and Mrs Smith will have the sympathy of al| who know them.
