THE NEXT BALLOT.
< r ONLY 5000 MEN. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Wellington, June 28, It is practically certain that the number of men drawn in the July ballot will be 5000. These will be reservists of class C of the Second Division. The •-
present position is that the August and s September drafts are f»H ; the recruits. , being drawn chiefly from class B, Second h Division. The October draft contains over 200 men, and to' their, have to be < added many of the fit wen from the 10,000 reservists recently drawn in class C, Second Division. The first batch of C men are likely to complete the October draft, and with late arrivals from class B and accretions from the First Division, as well as transfers from the CI camp, they will provide recruits for the No- ! vember draft, even if there is no reduction of reinforcements in August. If the July ballot is for 5000 men, the reservists remaining in class C will suffice for the July, August and September ballots. Then will come the turn of the class D men.
