AMERICAN TROOPS IN ITALY. SHIP CONSTRUCTION AND SINKINGS. Received June 30, 11 p.m. Washington, June 29. It is officially announced that the first American troops have arrived in Italy. Puring May the United States shipyards produced 175,334 tons gross, and British shipyards produced 187,274 tons., Tie submarine sinkings for that period' totalled 355,694 tons, thus the construction now exceeds the sinkings by 16,914 tons.—Press Association. Mr. Leasing made a statement, In view of pro-German misrepresentation, to the effect that the United States' position Is that all branches of the Slav race should be completely freed from German and Aujitrian rule.
