GARDENING IN ENGLAND. BY ,! OUF~BOYS."

Private J. A. Colville, N.Z. Rifle Brigade, 26/11/17, who recently returned from Walton-on-Thames Hospital, says: "While I waß in England, at Wal-ton-on-Thames Hospital, I was in charge of the vegetable gardens attached to the hospital. I would like to say that part of the donation of one hundred guineas worth of seeds which was given by Messrs. F. Cooper, Ltd., were used extensively at' Walton-on-Thames and other hospitals in England, with splendid results. They provided fine salads, and, in feet, crops of practically all the principal vegetables. For instance, we grew 30,000 lettuce alone. We were able to deliver these fresh and in perfect order, and in a much batter condition than they would, be if they were purchased, and had? stood packing and a journey. I con-; sider a saving of hundreds of per year was effected in this one lioS-f pital alone by using these seeds, as practically all the work was done by the boys themselves. They took a very keen interest in this work, and it provided suitable and healthy exercise many of them. We also used tfc Flower Seeds which you sent; in fact, there was not a packet of seeds allotted to us which was not made good uSte of. The Sweet Peas made a magnificent show, and so did the other flowers, and did much to make the surroundings of the hospital brighter anil' more cheerful." Now to come nearer home, it is time for us to prepare the ground for the coming spring, dig it up and allow tha earth 10 sweeten. Make up your mind now that you intend to have one of the best little gardens about this year. Write for Cooper's Catalogue. It will save you money and improve your health at the same time. You will want seeds of the strongest germination and beat- quality, so insist upon having Coopu'V "Seeds of Success." Practically all the hading Seedsmen and Stores in New Zealand stock them. Do not let thorn givo you anything else instead. ■ G2
