Last Wednesday a concert was arranged In the Good Templar Hall, with the object of augmenting the sum to be raised by St. Mary's Parish at the Bed Cross Mart this Saturday. The performers were all well-known favorites to the New Plymouth public, viz., Mrs. CampbeU, Misses C. Leatham, K. Leatham, W. Crooke, B. Crooke, W. Webster, M. Thoiuson, and Messrs. A. Bowlett, and H. 1. Wood. With the result of the sale of flowers, together with the door takings, over £2O was raised for the funds. DOLL FAIR. Although the weather anything but what could be desired, there was a large attendance, and excellent business resulted, at the ra K doll fair, held In the Good Templar Hall last Thursday afternoon, under the auspices of the New Plymouth branch of the Plunket Society. The Mayoress (Mrs. C. H. Burgess), In her openbig speech, explained that the object of thei fair was to secure monies for equipping Uie rooms which had been secured for the Plunket nurse/ who arrives In New Plymouth on July 1. The stalls were under the able management of tte following ladies: Doll stall, Mesdames W. C. Weston. G. Fraser, Blanchard, Misses Collins and Bollo; baby stall, W. Ambury, S. Alien, J. C. Nicholson; produce, Mesdames Newton King. Matthews, Denny-Brown, Sinclair; egg and flower stall, Mesdames B. Chaney and Campbell, afternoon tea: Mesdames D. H. ' Bussed, Pfankuch, Misses Wade, Leatham (2), Boy, Blundoll, L. Cutfleld, Hirst. The musical part of the programme was in the able hands of Mrs. Dennis Hlrsthouse, the performers being Mrs. K. Bain, Misses Leatham and Hirst. A great treat Is in store for lovers of music next week at the concert promoted by the N£. High School Old Girls' Assodtalon, as Mn. M. I Goodson, well known to HaWera audiences, has consented to sing on this Mrs. Goodson Is the possessor of a rarely beautiful vloce, and alone is well worth going to hear.
