FREISIAN CLEARING SALE.

A KEEN DEMAND. That there i s a keen demand for Frei sians was manifest by the record gather-, ing at the dispersal sale of Messrs C. M- Clifford brothers' pedigree Freisiana, conducted by Mr. Newton King at Lep* perton yesterday, buyers being present from all over the North Island, from the South Island, and also from Australia the cattle were shown in splendid condition, a tribute to the care bestowedl on them by their owners and their assistants, the latter including two young ladies, whose purchase of a lieifer wna loudly applauded. Bidding waa keen, and though no phenomenal prices wepi realised, the prices throughout were reij eves, tiib avarag# for tiie 49 animals lieing 67% guineas. The iigaent price received was 120gs, given by Mr. B. T. S. Mellow, of Kaponga, for three-year-old cow, Zozo 2nd of Ashlyim. The same buyer gave lQlgs for Lula Moore of Ashlynn, and lOOgs each for tie aged cow Princess Galatea and the three-year-old Blanco 3rd sth of Ashlynn. A Cambridge buyer, Mr. Watt, gave record top price, 107gs, for Longbeach Michaelmas Daisy. Yearling heifers were keenly sought after, Lady Segis Galatea Van Bacelanda being bought for gigs by Mr. P. G. Wright, of Sydney, who "also secured three other animals on behalf of Australian 'buyers. The majority of the cattle will remain in Tarana&i, though several were purchased by buyers from the Wailcato, Rangitikei, Manawatu, Canterbury, and Southland districts. The arrangements for the sale were all that could be desired, the sale taking place in a large marquee with ample seatingMi;. C. Fairbrother quickly put the catalogue through. At the conclusion of the sale, Mr. Shaw paid a tribute to the frank manner in which Mr. Clifford had placed his cattle up for sale, pointing out anythting that he thought might be considered as defects. It was the straightest sale he had ever attended, and it had been a pleasure to act as auctioneer. Messrs Clifford brothers were accorded three hearty cheers. The prices were as follow: COWS.
