The City Council considered the question of pay for soldier employees, and resolved that any employee who was in, the council's service prior to January 1, '< IM<5, who may be called up or enlist for ' active service, shall receive from s*« ; corporation, in addition to his military ' pay and allowances, a sum that will equalise his salary in the service, not exceeding £3OO per annum, and that a s finance committee be empowered to deal with anv anomaly which may arise.
