LABOR (XOTEfiMOE. Perth, June 25. The Inter-State Labor conference adopted a series of recommendations, with the object of democratising the defence system and safeguarding civil rights and industrial organisations. These include no military training or calling up in war time of persons under the voting age, the limitation of professional militarism to the instructional and administrative staffs, the aibolition of military oaths and distinctions between non-commissioned and commissioned officers; non-employment in industrial disputes, no forces to be raised for service outside the Commonwealth except by the decision of the people by the initiative and referendum, that conscientious objectors be freed from any comfbatant training or service.—Au» N.Z.
