THE LATE BALLOT.

To the Editor. Sir,—The Second Division League is doing good work for soldiers' dependents, but could they not do something also to assist the Government to get some of the shirkers who have neither home, child, nor interest in the country, but who are hiding behind Holy orders, teaching, etc., while men of essential trades and professions, including public school teachers are. being called for service? Surely the leaders of the S.D.L. can see the injustice of single men being allowed to remain here while homes are broken and husband father is forced to leave wife and children.—l am, etc., FATHER OF FIVE. Egmont Village, 22nd June.
