FARM AND DAIRY.
AYRSHIRE REPORT. The annual report of the New Zealand Ayrshire Breeders' Association stated that several new members had joined during the year and shown an active interest in the Association's work. Regret was expressed at the death of some members, especially Mr V. G. Watt, also those who had fallen in the war, sympathy being extended to the bereaved. Regret was also. expressed that Vol. VI. of the Herd book was not ready for distribution, and it was thought that entries should close earlier in the year so as to enable the printers to have books ready for the annual meeting. The financial position had been maintained, and there was a deposit of £IOO in the post office ready for use. In the photo stand members could see the framed certificate which is now given as an additional prize with the gold medal. Thanks were tendered to all members for assistance rendered during the year and their continued co-operation enlisted in order to strengthen the membership and augment the funds, so as to place the virtues of the Ayrshire cattle more prominently before the members and the public generally. Jersey breeders will be interest»d to learn that Mr. *V. J. Freeth, of Pukearuhe, purchased a yearling Jersey bull at the iPalmerston show of exceptionally good breeding. The youngster's dam is half sister to the world's champion heifer Mere, and the sire Silver Conqueror. The latter is by the imported bull Majesty's Fox.
