SMALL, WEAK, SELDOM.

; To tßa Editor; 1 Sir;—Ho three ■wards alt tie head of' Pthis letter briefly, bat coraectfy, sumpaarise- the recent report on. alcohol by jthe Liquor Control Board (Esng4- Hat [report was prepared by eight leading' i authorities on matters of health, and issued by the Board over their signal tares and that of the chairman, Lard | IVAbernan. It. is to be noted too, 'that these physicians were not opposed to alcohol at the ontset; in fact only cms of them eon be recognised as an abstainer; and the chairman is a pronounced anti-prohibitionist. It is plain that if there was any bias on the part of this medical committee it was distinctly aatt-prohifcition, and thereforetheir report should be received by moderates, reasonsbles, temperates and common sense, and the principles there laid down acted upon. Then it will be seen that tbo gist of the report is that alcohol is not a food and is unnecessary, yot if people will use it they must do so in the terms above mentioned—small, weak, seldom. We have only so far brief extracts from the report. When the full report is to hand we shall be able to find out what comfort there is in it for those who are fond of the intoxicating cnp. I merely wish to awaken attention to the importance of this report on what is a vital question— What ck*. alcohol?—I am, OJUt
