Caibve, the winner of the Australian Steeplechase, was killed while running in the Wanda Steeples yesterday.— Press Af.soc. The Egmont Racing Club (snvs the Opunakc Times) has shown a good sporting spirit by getting the North Taranaki Hunt Club out of the hole it was placed in when its permit was cancelled. The Egmont Club decided to put three or four Hunt Club events on its programme, und grant half the net proceeds to the TTrnt Club. This is more than the North Taranaki Hunt Club expected. Moreover, the Egmont Racing Club's district is more interested in the Wanganui-Hawera Hunt Club than that of North Taranaki. However, the Egmont Club has shown a spirit that is admired by the general public, and one that could be copied by some other clubs.
