IN THE AIR.
FLIGHTS ACROSS THE ATLANTIC. WITHIN MEASURABLE DISTANCE. Received June 23, II p.m. Washington, June 21. Major-General Brackner, of the British Air Ministry, states that American aeroplanes ought to be able to fly the Atlantic next summer. General Brackner is here for the purpose of co-operating with the American air output. Brackner further states that the British Air Council has definitely decided to attempt trans-Atlantic flights, in order to find a route for the movement of American aircraft to the front. The initial flight will probably be made in autumn, the British machines touching at the Azores and Portugal. It is estimated that the time for the trip will be forty Honrs.—Press Assoc.
