ELTHAM.
(from Our Own Correspondent.) Elthain, June 18. TW euchre party dance, controlled by the ladies and in aid of the School Committee's funds, held last evening, proved rery enjoyable, there being a very satisfactory attendance. The card games were all keenly contested, the winners being Mrs. D. Nees and Mr. J. Halpin, whilst other prizes were secured by Mr. and Mrs. Waters. The floor was in good order for dancing, and the music by Mr. Foster very pleasing. Mr. C. Maslin was a capable M.CThe Overseas Club has completed arrangements for the appearance of Mr. W. J. Treadwell, solicitor, Wanganui, to deliver a& adSress in the Town Hall on Monday, July 1, on "The Army and Navy." Mr. Treadwell has been very successful in this address wherever delivered. The Rev. Papapakura, the popular singer, will also assist by contributing several songs during the evening. The working of the last ballot of the one;in-family man is hitting Eltham very hard. During the recent medical examination among those successful in passing the military requirements were J. L. Campbell, one of the directors of the Eltham Dairy Company, and Mr. Charles Davis, farming at Rotokare, whose brother has been at the front for some time. MrWalteT Barker, who has been mailman for many years and wdl known on the Eltham-Opxmake run, will also wear j khaki, whilst the redoubtable Amos fOrrio&s has also been successful
