EXTENT OF OFFENSIVE. AUSTRIAN FAILURE. Kome, June IG. Signer Orlando announced that the Austrian offensive opened with a violent bombardment at 3 a.m. An infantry attack being launched at seven along tho whole line, and nearly the whole front lias Ijeen engaged since. The offensive extends with equal extreme violence from Astece to tho Brenta, thence to J J iave and along the Piave, everywhere involving the Astico plateau, the Mount Grappa sector and the Plain. Our troops offered a magnificent resistance. The Austriana failed to achieve even the preliminary success customary in crushing offensives.—Reuter.
