New Zealand Government has decided to publish a History recording the part taken by the New Zealand Expeditionary Force in the War. This is to be written from the viewpoint of the Soldiers, and will be an intimate, interesting and vivid record of their experiences rather than simply a Military History. This will be in addition to the Official Imperial History of the War. TO SECURE reliable and authoritative information at first hand, it is desirable that the Author should h°ve access to Soldiers' private letters, dia.ies, sketches, and photographs. RELATIVES AND FRIENDS of Soldiers who possess suitable information, are requested to forward such to the Director of Base Records, Wellington. This applies to future events as well as to accounts of past incidents. Every care will be taken of the material sent in, and after extracts hav- been made it will be returned intact to the sender. JpUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given that the Council of the County of Taranaki intend at a meeting of the Council to be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, the first day of July 1918 at the County Chambers, Robe Street, New Plymouth, to make and levy under Section 117 "Counties Act, 1908," Section 48 "Rating Act, 1908," and Section 9 "Rating Amendment Act, 1913," Rates within each of the Ridings of the County of Taranaki as particularised hereunder: MOA RIDING: A General Rate of one and one-eighth pence in the pound over the area of the Moa Road District and a General Rate of one and seven-eights pence in the pound over the outlying district. MANGOREI RIDING: A General Rate of one and seven-eighths pence in the pound. WAITARA RIDING: A General Rate of one and three-eighths pence in the pound over the area of the Waitara West Road District and a General Rate of two and one-eighth pence in the pound over the Outlying District. OMATA RIDING: A General Rate of one and three-fourths pence in the pound. OKATO RIDING: A General Rate of one and seven-eighths pence in the pound. Such rates to be calculated on the Capital Value of all rateable property within the County of Taranaki and to be for the period commencing on the first day of April 1918 and ending on the 31st day of March 1919, and to be payable in one instalment at the Office of the County of Taranaki, Robe Street, New Plymouth, on the fourth day of September 1918.
