GISBORNE MEETING. By Telegraph—Press Association. Giibome, Last Night. The Gisborne Racing Club's steeplechase meeting was opened to-day. The course was hea-vy, after the recent rains. The totalisator handled £ 13,290, as coinpared with .011,367 for the same day last year. Results:— PARK HURDLES.—I Pursefiller 1, 4 Con 2, 2 Kauri King 3. Also started: 5 Otara, 3 Castalia. Won by two lengths. Time, 3min 39aec. MAIDEN HAjOK-—4 Don Patch 1, 1 General Stephen 2, C Principal Lady 3. Also started: 2 War March, 8 Hookah, 7 Pavilion. 5 Xowra, 3 Marlama, 10 Peranga, 14 Freu Joy, 13 Municipal, 12 Broadway, Boggits, 15 Gaze Gold, 11 Folksong- Won hy a head. Time, 51sec. FLYING HANDICAP.—I Gazique 1, 3 Orowia 2, 3 Multifual 3. Also started: 5 Carlysian, 2 Movement, 4 Loyal Arch, 0 Marenga. Won by half a length. Time, lmin 19sec. STEEPLECHASE.—2 Master Timi 1, 1 Sandy Paul 2, 3 Fagot 3. Also started: 4 Saibrenui- Won by half a length. Sabrenui fell at the last fence and broke his back. Time, Omin 44sec. HACK FIAT.—I Aetifid 1, 3 Black Lace 2, 0 Sabine 3. Also started: S Woodrow. 7 Svlvasco, 2 General Stephen, 5 Multiplane, 4 Horeka. Won by two lengths. Time, lmin 35sec. TRAMWAY HACK STEEPLES.—2 Advancer 1, 1 Expedition 2. Also started: 3 Juan. Expedition fell, bringing down Jean and leaving Advancer to win. Expedition finished the course for second place. Time, 4min 2asec. WINTER OATS.—3 MultiVe 1, 1 Cleft 2, 2 Flash Lady 3. Also started: 5 Persian Prince, -t Torchlight. Won hy a length and a-half. Time, 2min 11 2-ssec.
