THE NEW STAR.
CREATES A SEHSAHQN. London, Jtme 11. The new star, Nova Acquila, has caused a sensation in the astronomical wtirid. M. De Roy, secretary of the Antwerp Astronomical Society, was the first observer of the new star, the reward of fifteen years' nightly observation, which was one of thirty new stars recorded since 132 before Christ. Sir Frank Dyson, astronomer Royal, states that the star m the a/pTilmn is •more brilliant than the nova feraei, dis. covered in 190 L Probably it ia the most brilliant since Kegler's discovery in 1607. Some astronomers opine that the Nova Acquilae was the resnlt of a collision of meteoric swarms, perhaps a hundred mill ion times distant &3 the sun, but may only be an old star suddenly brightened. They estimate tho star began to ehine in the reign of James I, and the light reached the earth on Saturday. The-star'is 'viable in'daylight.
