SIR G. BEnyg VIEWS. London, June 11. Sir George Reid, in a letter to the Horning Post, condemns the suggestion to submit the Irish question to the Imperial Conference. He says that this would go far towards destroying the valuable safeguard of Imperial unity. The line between projects of Imperial co-operation an/1 domestic politics ought to be rigidly maintained. Sir George Rieid adds that his personal view is that any change in Ireland must) be assured of an honest welcome in Ireland, must not add pressure to the War difficulties, and must strengthen and not weaken the integrity of that overnarrow base on which the structure of the Empire rests. The Daily Chronicle says that it is improbable the Irish question will be submitted to the Imperial Conference. The indications ore that both Home Rule and conscription in Ireland have been sidetracked. The Morning Post hopes that the conferences will not be beguiled into the Irish bog of Home Rule. —Aug. KZ. CaWe Assoc. RECRUITING EFFORTS. London, June 11. The Dublin correspondent of the Daily Express says that recruiting in Ireland will be conducted on the lines of a general election. There will be an extensive distribution of literature and tho utilisation of hoardings, including an Irish 1 kiltie in the national colors. Important progress has been made in enlisting with the aid of Nationalists. Mr. Lynch has agreed to act as recruiting officer Prominent landlords intend to raise battalions in their counties. A I feature of the campaign will be the I marches of American regiments with their priests.—Renter-
