PATRIOTIC COMMITTEE.

MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the New Plymouth Patriotic Committee was held last nlcW. There were present: Mr C H Burgess (chairman), Mrs C. H. Burgess, Von Archdeacon E"ans, ; Messrs. J. W. Chancy (deputy chatrroun), C' Carter, C. E. Bellringer, W. A. Ooiiis, L. A Nolan, 3. Paton (treasurer) and L M Monteatlv (secretary). A letter was received from the Minister of Defonce relative to the compilation by the Government of a record of the doings <f the Now Zealand Forces In the war. and asking that material useful tor such a purpose bo nlnce3 at the disposal of the Government It agreed to forward any suitable documents that might come into their hands. Correspondence was received from the Tara-' naki War Relief Association in reference to the matter of regimental funds, and the alteration of the constitution of the association to allow 1 of funds being used for such purpose The annual meeting of the association had passed a resolution referring the matters to the local committees for report and recommendation. It was also stated that hi the matter of regimental' funds the amount assessed for Tar&n&H was £259. and tho New Plymouth Quota would be £SO per month. • \ • Thft chairman moved that it he a recoramen* datlon to the association that the articles of association be altered to enable them to make allocations for such funds as the Toglmental fund. The motion was seconded by Mr. Chaney, and parried unanimously The secretary of the War Belief Association wrote that, in regard to funds foT the WarContingent Association; for use among fit men, the advisory board had assessed the district Quota at £155; and that the executive had allocated the quotas for the various commit- , tees, that for New Plymouth being £29 17$ per month. On the motion of Mr. Chaney, seconded by Mr. J. Paton, it was resolved to donate £25, towards the fund for re-establishing huts at the front by the Church Army. s Accounts amounting to £2 9s 2d were passed »for- payment.
